Logan sizes up the bartender first. Another Aussie. Partner? Kids? To each their own, he doesn't care who other people do - screw a donut hole if it makes you happy - as long as the donut don't mind.

Though feeling tired and raw, he makes some effort to be nice as he meets the guy and gives his order. After all, this guy holds the key to him refueling and besides, Lily seems to really like him. Easy to read just how much she does without even trying.

The other one, though - this Thorne guy. Logan can smell military a mile away and this guy reeks of some kind of elite forces gig. Its all over him - the haircut, the posture, the build and especially the way he looks at Logan when he steps up to introduce himself. He looks at Logan a little too closely, this isn't just a social driveby and Logan suspects they both know it.

His guard goes up immediately. Is this guy part of the bunch who've been hunting him? It would make sense. "I've not been around much lately..." Riiight. Isn't that code for "I've been off being briefed about my next objective?" Logan's been there himself, knows that score. Which is a surprise, something he's just rememebered. But at the moment it's less important than figuring out who this guy is and why he's so damn interested.

He gives Thorne a measured nod, eyes never leaving the other man's face. His expression says "I know you so you'd better think twice about messing with me, Bub." He makes sure Thorne can read it clearly before he returns his attention to his beer, no longer interested in the Aussie version of G.I. Joe and making it clear that he's done giving him attention.

"Whaddya think, Lil? Can we talk Paul out of one of those good cigars they keep locked up in here?"

So this is the infamous Skinner. Shoulda known. At least he's not another Aussie... Logan's dark gaze darts from the bar owner to G.I. Joe to the bartender's boyfriend. They all look alike. Not exactly alike, but enough to make the hairs on the back of his neck come to attention. What the fuck? Come to think of it, they look like the Sheriff and that Colin guy, too. Another Aussie. What is this? Some kind of dumping grounds for variations on a theme? Someone trying to perfect the model, maybe?

He's seen a lot of strange things in his time, maybe can't remember them, but again, his gut knows. Still what kind of strange new Twilight Zone hell is this?

"Canada.Thanks for letting us crash your little party. Don't worry about the cigar - one's they got at the gas station are just as good, if you ask me. But soon as the food comes, we'll chow down and be outta here."

Even Lily's warmth against him and the way she's rubbing the denim on his knee won't take the edge off how weird this whole scene is.

Thorne claims to be ex-military? Not likely. They like to keep guys like him active, one way or another. Come back to tap you later, like broke family looking for a buck.

He's done playing nice and once the food arrives, he has valid reason not to. Not that he cares. Being him is a valid enough reason.

Logan knows he can handle these guys, anytime anywhere. One at a time, as a group - he's taken on worse and barely broken a sweat. Already proven that up North in the mountains.

But he also has Lily to worry about now. She knows these guys, works with at least one of them, thinks of some of them as friends. Points for the fact that they were already in play before he got here - that's a real head twister. Right now he's hoping that they won't use her to get to him, but it's about as likely as seeing a rain cloud and getting wet.

He'll need to think of a way to talk to her about it, warn her to be careful who she talks to, watch for tricks - especially from that Thorne character, he's probably about as slippery as they come.

It would be easier if he knew what the game was, why they look so much alike, if they had any special abilities like his own. Best thing to do until they made their move was simply watch and wait.

No doubt they'd be doing the same.

For now he'll just have to play it cool. "Babe, you gonna eat those mushrooms?"
