I feel like I was in the ring right along with Terry! That was very powerful. I admire the determination to go right for it, not to sugar coat -- to take on the teenage anger and the older man's determination not to back away from the punches. I also was quite intrigued by Terry's moments of revelation on issues such as what his real reason was for wanting a relationship with his son and that the cruelty of his father has had repercussions in his own fathering style that weren't quite as good as Terry may have once thought. Yes, he didn't beat his son -- but was Terry too quick to retreat from being a father when he may have been more assertive in his son's life if he'd had a more healthy father/son relationship of his own?

Anyway, this was a tough one to read as it was full of raw emotions aimed at the guy we all know swallows his pain. Thanks for sharing this with us.
